This is the only non Muslim, halal free donair shop in Edmonton that i know of. Halal is the cruelest and most inhumane way to slaughter an animal known to man. It should never be promoted or allowed in our country. For that reason alone i give this place 5 stars. The food is good too.

The BEST sandwich in Edmonton, there I said it. Okay, at least MY favorite sandwich in Edmonton...

I had a morning dental appointment on the southside today and hadn't been to High Voltage in a while... when I lived and worked on the southside this was a regular stop for me. I had a conversation with the owner (he comes off a bit gruff and "all business" at first but is a great guy once you get to know him) and he has operated as High Voltage in this location for 21 years, and several years as a Mr. Sub before that. I did the math and have been a loyal customer for over 17 years now. So I was shocked when I checked in today and realized I have never reviewed one of my Edmonton all time faves.

As stated in many reviews here the donairs here are amazing, and different than anything you will find elsewhere in Edmonton. But the real winner here is the Big Foot Sandwich. It has been my go to for years. A massive assorted meat pressed panini sandwich... loaded with quality, tasty deli meats and mozza cheese with tangy pizza sauce. I always opt for onions, hot sauce, green peepers, jalapenos and lettuce as my add ons. The crispy, fluffy, seasoned panini is always amazing. It is a whole lot of delicious sandwich... you will not leave hungry or disappointed.

An absolute Edmonton treasure, give High Voltage a try. It is very unassuming when you pass by, so venture in and thank me later.

Okay, I had to do it.  The "donair" seemed to be a  popular item in the province of Alberta.  You call it donair, we call it doner in Southern California.  High Voltage seemed to have the best reviews, so I decided to give them a try.  They are located on a hard to get corner of Calgary Trail and 63 Avenue. The donair that I tried was average.  They throw the donair into a pannini press to warm it up. The meat was a little dry. The tzatziki sauce made it better.  I didn't see anything high voltage about this place.  The Southern California doner is still my favourite.

I came across this place based on a friends recommendation and I'm glad I did. This is a nice little gem that serves up a great donair: I was very happy with both the size and amount of meat they managed to pack into one of these when I grabbed mine. They have a huge selection of donairs and wraps too, so you won't be hard pressed finding exactly what you'd like by coming here.

And a shoutout to my fellow Kevin who works here and made it for me. His service and demeanor were awesome and I'd highly recommend you come down and see for yourself how great this place is from a donair lover like me!

Don't ask me why, but I always assumed that High Voltage was a cafe/brunch spot. To my surprise, it's actually this super trendy Greek/donair restaurant.

After finding High Voltage on DoorDash, my co-worker recommended that we order Chicken Souvlaki. High Voltage actually calls this Chicken Med - grilled chicken with tzatziki and feta cheese. Seeing that the wrap was only $6.25 for the small size, we had to do it. We kept it traditional and only added tomato and onion to our wrap.

Our order arrived a bit earlier than expected (thanks DoorDash!) and just like that we were able to have pure deliciousness at work! The flavours and textures we're absolutely perfect. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned, while the sauce was mild and worked perfectly with the rest of the flavours.

There are 3 sizes of the of Chicken Med and the small was a really good size for lunch. However the wrap was so good, I wanted more. So with no shame, I headed over to High Voltage only 2 days later. This time I ordered the regular (medium) size and it was alot of food for only about $10. I'll definitely come back to this restaurant for a quick bite and can't wait to try their donairs in the near future!
